Of course, I adore rail shooters, and that's the key point to keep in mind. If you're not interested in the genre, then you'll probably hate not being able to control of your movement. But if you're like me and love the genre, then you'll have a blast with this game. The only complaint about the design is that there's no way to tell when it's safe to pop out of cover to return fire, and the end sequence really needs one more checkpoint before the final round (and maybe an extra medkit there as well). But, otherwise, it's a nice, simple, fun game that'll keep you entertained for two hours (or four-plus if you're going to go through veteran mode).. Decent enough game. You can ignore the negative reviews from ree-tods who don't know what rail-shooters are.. I was actually suprised that i enjoyed the game. Its an arcade style shooter THAT IS WAY MUCH BETTER THAN RAMBO THE GAME!. Dou know what a light gun game is? House of the Dead, Time Crisis, etc? Well, this is one of those. If you like light gun games and would like to play a new one, well, here is one, it's here for you. It is perhaps somewhat distasteful because you're a marine blowing up Afghans or whatever, so that might be a problem for some people, which I get. But if you can get past that and just want to have a good time shooting some dudes and seeing things go BANG then you'll have fun. This is a popcorn game and it works just fine and sometimes, that is enough. Plus when you shoot the right thing a disembodied voice screams OORAH, which is noteworthy. I give this game 8 oorahs out of 10.Also, if you are like hey this looks like an FPS whoa I can't move and can only aim or shoot this is bad negative review then you're a goddamn idiot. Oorah!. It's a really hard, skillbased Game. Nothing for beginners in Shooter Genre, cause you need years of practise to have a chance, beating this game. Can't wait until the first ESL Event for "Heavy Fire: Afghanistan" starts!But for real: If you got this Game for free: Download it! Pretty easy Achievements. There are only 1 or 2 wich are a bit harder to get. And you can sell the trading cards.. got this game in a bundle. perhaps my review is biased but i did try to play this game. is 0.6hrs a valiant effort. the kind of game, the look of the game, the pacing of the game didnt appeal to at all but i did try it. i think if i had some sort of light gun peripheral the game would of been played more but idk, im 6 feet tall. Stupid game.This would have worked if release 1989.. Ooh, not a good game. It's an rail shooter, which will put a lot of people off. There's nothing wrong with rail shooters and games like Time Crisis, Virtua Cop and Ghost Squad are loved by the people who like them. And I do like me a bit of Ghost Squad.Many people don't like rail shooters because all they do is point and click, but there can be subtlety to them like Ghost Squad's choice system and Virtua Cop's hidden items and difficult bonus kills. Heavy Fire Afghanistan (HFA) has none of that.For starters, it's too easy. You're never really under threat. I cruised through the first two levels, barely taking a hit. I did run out of ammo once, until I realised that one hit was enough to take down any enemy. Even the cover system is barely necessary. You get an exclamation mark above the head of everyone who is about to shoot, so it's easy to just stand there and shoot everyone. Hmm.The game is clearly a lazy port and constantly refers to Xbox controls. There's even a bit of laziness on the interface - you can see the edges of button pics and interface items. Nothing terrible, but it shows the lack of care in the port.I'll probably play this a couple more times before I completely forget I own it. I got it as part of a bundle and so it's kind of okay for that, but it's still a forgettable, easy, empty experience.. Look...I know it's an on-rails shooter, but unless you make it come with a light gun attachment, then why bother? (I think the PS3 version has one). But even then, it just isn't fun. Also, the voice-acting and gunfire is poor. Many on-rails games are much better than this, even VirtuaCop 2 from 1995!Don't be fooled, there is a place for on-rails games like this. That's why more effort should have been put in.. I recommend this game to anyone that loves the classics like area51 and other light gun shooters. It is fun and has a little bit of diffculty to it. Lighting is amazing on high sun flares and flush outs look realistic. Game music is very good too. If your looking for a title with loud gun sounds and gun sound accuracy this isn't for you. But if you can look past the very cheesy dialog and gun sounds this game is very very fun. $4.49 you can have my money. I will be playing this for quite awhile. Pick up a copy if like these old classic arcade light gun shooters.
